Sipporah Tartakoff, known to her friends as "Sippy," passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026 at 97 years old at her residence at the Oaks at Menorah Park in Dewitt, NY. She leaves for us to remember her generous heart, love of people, vibrant personality, and an indominable spirit. Sippy was born in Calcutta, India in 1928 and was schooled in the Senior Cambridge education system. At 17 years of age she married Maurice Tartakoff, a US Army serviceman, and returned with him at the end of World War II to Ellenville, NY where they raised their family. Sippy was active in her synagogue, Hadassah, Ellenville Hospital auxiliary, and operated a small hotel with Maurice.

Sippy is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Seemah Reuben, husband Maurice, brother Ellis, and son David. She is survived by her two sons: Robert (Ellen) and Raymond Tartakoff; grandsons Daniel (Karen) and Joseph (Courtney) Tartakoff; and great grandchildren Eli, Leo, and Susie, and beloved niece Nancy.

Sippy also leaves behind her devoted caregivers: Tammy, Missy, Ranesha, Paul, and Jessica, all angels, to whom this family is ever so grateful.

Funeral service will be held at Congregation Ezrath Israel in Ellenville on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow at the Jewish cemetery in Wawarsing.
