Thomas "Tom" Thanasoulis, affectionately known to many as "The Greek," passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at Clove Lakes Healthcare in Staten Island, NY, at the age of 92.
Born on June 19, 1933, in Staten Island, NY, Tom was the beloved son of Costas Thanasoulis and Stamatia Chrampanis. He was raised on his family's farm, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for hard work and community.
Tom spent many years in the trucking industry, driving 18-wheelers across the country before retiring from the MTA after 20 years of dedicated service. He was known for his great sense of humor, big heart, and unwavering willingness to lend a hand. Whether it was sharing a laugh or helping a neighbor, Tom always made time for others.
On September 6, 1986, he relocated to Grahamsville, NY, where he found peace and a strong connection to the local community.
Tom is survived by his loving children: Stacy Thanasoulis of Staten Island, Dora D'Angelo of Staten Island, Costas "Gus" Thanasoulis of Florida, George Thanasoulis of New Jersey, and Thomas Thanasoulis of Staten Island; seven cherished grandchildren; and five adored great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his siblings Perry "Pericles" and Ricky "Hariclea," and by his childhood friend Bert Bifuleo.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 13th at 2:00 PM at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, where Tom will be laid to rest.
