Urbano Zapata, a longtime area resident, passed away at his home in Monticello, NY on Wednesday September 24, 2014. He was 60 years of age.
He was born on May 23, 1954 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to the late Luis Zapata and Margarita Vargas. He worked as a maintenance man at Shaker Heights Apartments in Monticello, NY.
Survivors include his companion, Barbara Brown at home; sons, Willie Zapata of Monticello, John Zapata and Harold Zapata, both of Massachusetts; daughters, Dolores Zapata Alberico of Skowhegan, ME, Laura Mure and Deborah Brown-Jones, both of Monticello, NY; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Brown.
Visiting hours are on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 10 am to Noon at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St. Monticello, NY. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at Noon. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery, Cold Spring Rd. Liberty, NY.
