Vernon E. "Butch" Houghtaling, 42, of Liberty, NY, passed away at his home after a long illness. The son of Vernon Houghtaling Sr. and Patricia Hettema Houghtaling, he was born on January 15, 1972 in Monticello, NY. Vernon was a self-employed landscaper.
He is survived by his parents, Vernon Houghtaling Sr. and Patricia Hettema; his wife, Audrey Steiger Houghtaling at home; son, Shane Houghtaling at home; daughters, Kathleen and Hallie Houghtaling, both at home and three sisters.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill crematory in Middle Hope, NY. A Celebration of Vernon's life will take place at Liberty Fire House, 256 Sprague Ave. Liberty on Sunday October 26, 2014 from 1 - 4 PM.
Funeral arrangements are by Ramsay's Funeral Homes Inc. Liberty, NY.
