Obituary

Wayne Robert Griffin, 72, affectionately known as Griffy or Griff, left this world on July 5th, 2026, in Woodbourne, NY. Born on February 8th, 1954, in Monticello, NY, to Jeanette and Edward Griffin, he was a cherished lifelong resident and a friend to all who crossed his path.

A proud graduate of Fallsburg High School and SUNY Delhi, Griffy was the heart and soul of the Griff Inn bar in South Fallsburg. His industrious spirit shone through his work at Griff Oil, Great Dane Trucking, and his dedicated 22 years as a correction officer at both Napanoch and Sullivan County correctional facilities. At home, his automotive "shop" was a testament to his remarkable ability to fix anything and his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone.

Griffy's passion for skiing was as boundless as his love for life, and he shared his joy as an instructor at the Concord Hotel for many years. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his beloved wife, Dorothy Griffin, embarking on countless road trips, cruises, and excursions, creating beautiful memories together. After his debilitating stroke in 2002, Dorothy became his sole, devoted caretaker and the center of his universe.

His heart beat to the rhythm of country music, and he found joy in watching NCIS, building and fixing stock cars, riding motorcycles, and savoring the taste of blueberry pie. A devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Griffy's love and warmth touched the lives of everyone he knew, and he will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette and Edward Griffin. Griffy leaves behind his adored wife, Dorothy Griffin, his two children, Stacey O'Keeffe of Woodbourne, NY, and Shannon Neiderman of Palm Springs, CA, his cherished grandchildren, Hunter and Sean Kennedy(Nicole), and Hannah and Emily Neiderman, his brother Dr. William Griffin (Rebecca), his nephew, Matthew Griffin (Lipine), and his great-grandson, Elijah.
