Wilfredo Figueroa, Sr.

October 12, 1939 — January 17, 2025

Wilfredo Figueroa, Sr., 85, of Kauneonga Lake, NY passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2025.
He was born on October 12, 1939, to Valentin Figueroa and Basilia Sobrado in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.
He was predeceased by his brother Marcos A. Figueroa.

After moving from Puerto Rico to the Bronx, NY and serving 6 months in the Army reserve, he decided to pursue a career as an Electrician with Con Edison in the Bronx. Retiring from Con Edison, Wilfredo decided to remain busy with many hobbies and was known for his remarkable problem-solving skills & versatility. He had a passion for learning. He also had an innate talent for fixing & repairing things, whether it was building computers, fixing cars, or any other project, he enjoyed bringing things to life with his hands and mind.

Wilfredo was an avid reader, with a special love for the Bible. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he often drew strength and wisdom from its pages. He also had a great sense of humor and was known for his quick wit and infectious laughter.

In addition to his many talents, he loved creating board games for fun. He was an RV life enthusiast. He also loved playing dominoes, a pastime that allowed him to bond with friends and family, always making sure to add fun to any gathering.,

Wilfredo’s love for salsa music was a big part of who he was. He could often be found singing along to his favorite tunes, his joy in the music clear to anyone nearby. His zest for life and ability to enjoy the simple things will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his former wife Ida C. Banks (Lewis). His children: Christina Velez,
Nancy Figueroa (Roger J. Hourihan), Wilfredo Figueroa Jr., John Figueroa (Patricia) and Frances Rivera. His many grandchildren Christine Lopez, Rosalyn Segarra (Daniel), Isidore Velez Jr. (Shannon) Angeli Figueroa, Jasmin Arana, Isabella Figueroa, Anthony J. Rivera (Maria Moreira) & Joshua A. Rivera. His siblings: brother John Francisco Arana, sisters Maria Mendez (Cruz) and Elsa Arana Hutchison and great grandchildren: Mia Segarra, Mya Segarra,
Jay Jay Velez, Julian Segarra & many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank Caregivers:
Ada Ponce-Gonzalez & Antonia “Tonie” M. Thomas for their compassion, Loving & affectionate care for our Dad during his last days!

A visitation will be held at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 12-2:00pm with a funeral service starting at 2:00pm.

He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
