William (Billy) Aaron Resnick of Mountain Dale, NY, peacefully passed away at his home on September 10, 2025, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born on May 2, 1942, in Bayonne, NJ, to the late Al and Francis Resnick.
Billy was a proud graduate of Bayonne High School, where his passion for landscape architecture first took root. After graduation, he moved to Mountain Dale, NY to live with his uncle and began working for Creative Gardens Landscaping Company in Woodridge. His entrepreneurial spirit quickly led him to establish his own landscaping business, and he began landscaping many newly formed developments including Emerald Green and Davos, the first of many ventures he would successfully operate over the course of his lifetime. The OG Resnick Serial Entrepreneur ran a ski shop (moon boots), soda company, plant store, then the bar/restaurant, cafeteria and ski shop at Big Vanilla at Davos, to founding Resnick Supermarket Equipment from a small garage in Mountain Dale. Billy was a straight talker and pulled no punches. A visionary who always saw opportunity. He also operated several other businesses later in life including the Catskill Cougars and even took the remarkable step of purchasing much of his beloved town of Mountain Dale, to preserve and help bring in more people to the town.
He was also a devoted family man, loyal friend, and trusted confidante. Known as the life of the party, he had an unmatched gift for storytelling and was a jokester, holding court with friends and family on his porch right up until the end. His warmth, laughter, and love of family were his greatest legacies.
He made friends everywhere he went. He turned friends into family in the many places he resided in, including Puerto Vallarta, Asbury Park, Naples Florida and most of all his beloved Sullivan County.
The family would like to recognize the amazing work of his caregivers, Miguel Castillo (nurse) and Marlene would also like to recognize Hospice of Sullivan and Orange County for providing amazing support services during this difficult time.
Nothing was more important to Billy than his family. He was an amazing provider. The GOAT of the Resnicks. Always the life of the party with a larger-than-life persona, Billy will forever be remembered as an avid dancer, joke teller, storyteller and a practical joker. His memory will be shared with a smile, a laugh, and a story worth retelling. He will be missed by all that new him.
Billy is predeceased by his parents, Al and Francis Resnick, and his brother Stewart Resnick. Billy leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Patsy; his brothers Larry (Linda) and Mark (Peggy); his sons Randy (April), Butch (Jinelle), and Josh (Jaed); and his cherished grandchildren Mara, Jonathan, Madison, Julian, Adrian, Matt, Olivia, Chloe, and Harper. He also leaves behind his bonus son Francie Reyes, best friend Stephen Altman and his favorite ex-wife Francis Glaubman. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
