Bradenton, Florida formerly of Liberty, NY
Woodrow R. Schoonmaker, a resident of Florida since 1970 and a former resident of Liberty, NY, passed away on Monday April 13, 2015 in Bradenton, Florida. He was 82. Born in Liberty, NY on Dec. 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Preston and Laura Curry Schoonmaker.
Woodrow was a US Air Force Veteran, serving from 1950 to 1954 as Airman Second Class. He was a member of the American Legion and he belonged to the Liberty United Methodist Church while he lived in Liberty. He was a loyal husband and a devoted father and friend.
Survivors include his loving wife, Diana Schumacher Schoonmaker at home; son, Seymour Schoonmaker of Flagstaff, AZ; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Teller of Callicoon, NY; great-nephews, Ricky Mafera and his wife Debbie of Myakka, FL and Stephen Mafera and wife Jonella, also of Myakka, FL; great-great-nieces, Rose and Ashlin Mafera and a great-great-nephew, Steven Mafera. He was predeceased by his son, David Schoonmaker.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday April 18 from 2-4 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 4 PM with Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Liberty Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice in memory of Woodrow Schoonmaker.
